2-C-1 Web 2.0, the classroom and professional practice.
Web 2.0 has so many tools you can get lost in it all. The important things seems to be learning the essential tools and then trying them out to see if they are helpful. When I find blogs I like I add them to my Google reader folder for education best practices. I also add things to my education technology folder. I can go to my reader and quickly skim thru the posts to see what others are doing in their classrooms. This gives me ideas to try with students. I am looking forward to rolling out wiki use fully in my classes. A wiki seems to be a step beyond a blog because students can write posts, add information and edit each other’s work. I’ve enjoyed the information in this course but I will be more interested in how everyone implements what they are learning!

Yes! I think wikis will be very beneficial when the time comes to discuss them in my classes, too. I have actually already told our principal that the English department should consider creating a wiki that has all our expectations for MLA format for research papers on it. This way, we could be aligned through 7-12 grades, and there would be no confusion about where the heading goes or how to write page numbers, if students should include a cover page, etc.
Great idea with using a 7-12 wiki for MLA and stuff, I am going to propose that here also.
You’re right about the multitude of Web 2.0 tools. The secret is to learn what they do and how they can help enhance education and networking. Then choose the ones that you can use to meet you and your students’ needs.
